Let me ask you a question, if one of the tyres on your car was bald and the other three were perfectly OK, would you replace all 4 tyres? The answer to this is probably no, so why replace an entire gearbox when it might only be a small component of that gearbox that’s actually failed? The answer to this is only a specialist would have the knowledge to identify the specific problem relating to a gearbox repair, whereas anyone can see if a tyre is bald, so when a gearbox fails its generally replaced in its entirety rather than repaired, this is where we can help you! We offer such great value on our repaired gearbox units as our team have been repairing gearboxes since 1983, and have turned what was once a two day job into normally less than 1 day, through repetition and consistency, we optimised our efficiency and reduced labour costs, enabling us to pass this cost saving onto our customers.
 Many back street garages will offer to dismantle, then rebuilt your existing gearbox unit for in excess of £950.00 + VAT, but generally don’t commit to a lump sum price as its difficult for them to accurately estimate price due to uncertainty of work required, until they commence and investigate the problem. The cost of this service is generally greater than the potential cost of a reconditioned unit, so under these circumstances you would normally just pay for a reconditioned box...but what if there were a cheaper option?
Our service is different, upon receiving an order and the customer delivering their vehicle to our garage, if driveable our team will then test drive the car and typically identify the problem within minutes rather than days of work dismantling then relentlessly testing each component, through application of our 23 years of specialist experience we reduce the time required repairing each car and subsequently reduce cost in the process.
 Many of our customers have came to us in two minds of whether or not to replace or repair their gearbox, or just scrap the car due to the age and potential cost exceeding end value of the car. For example if a main dealer offered to fit a new gearbox at a cost of £2,750 + VAT on a car that’s only worth £2,000.00 on the open market, it wouldn’t make financial sense to have the work done due to potential cost of the work exceeding value of the car, this is where we come in.
Whilst our mechanics can replace a fully reconditioned unit within 4 hours on certain makes and models of car, fitting a reconditioned gearbox is often not the cheapest option to you. For example why repalce your existing box with reconditioned if its just the bearings which have failed?
All fully reconditioned gearbox units come with a 12,000 mile warranty, and repaired existing units come with a 6,000 mile warranty as standard, so our customers can be assured of quality of our work.
All reconditioned gearbox units are fully bench tested, and as we have been repairing gearboxes since 1983 the likelihood of subsequent failure is far less than many of our competitors, who are more general in their trade and therefore are more likely to make mistakes or sacrifice quality in exchange for speeding up the job.
